SEBCO Pool Renovations 2025

Dear Patrons,

We are pleased to finally be able to confirm that Jefferson Township has received several grants which will allow the major renovations needed at SEBCO Pool to begin this year!  This entire process of securing grants and working out a schedule that would be beneficial to all has not been a quick or easy task as we are certain you could understand and we appreciate your patience as we worked thru it all.

Proposal requests have been submitted, as are required, for the repairs.  The township anticipates beginning the project after closing this summer and completing it prior to opening next year (May 2026).  The expected time needed for renovations is 7 months.  Keeping this in mind along with winter weather here in Western PA, unfortunately, SEBCO Pool will be closing early this summer to begin renovations.  Our original thoughts were that construction would be done in two phases with the first phase beginning April 2025, however, had that been the case we were looking at more than likely not being able to open at all this summer.  With this in mind, we chose the option we thought would best benefit the community and decided to open with the anticipation that we would need to close just 2 weeks early.  The last day we will be open to the public will be Sunday, August 17.  This closure is essential to ensure that we can provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our patrons and visitors.

Major renovations to take place will include new electrical and mechanical upgrades such as a new pump room building, new filtration system, new heater, water lines and pool liner.

We understand that our early closure this summer will cause an inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for the disruption.  Thank you for your understanding and patience as we undertake these important repairs and improvements.  We look forward to seeing you at the pool this summer and welcoming you all back to the new and improved SEBCO Pool next Spring as well!  Please check back here for periodic updates as construction takes place.

Sincerely,
SEBCO Pool Board
UPDATE 7-15-2025:  Based on 7/14/2025 Jefferson Township Supervisors Meeting:
The future of SEBCO Pool is uncertain after the Jefferson Township board of supervisors July 14, meeting where supervisors rejected the only bid received to date which came in at approximately $3.4 million.  The township had originally anticipated repairs to come in near $1.1 million.

SEBCO Pool was established in 1967, is owned by Jefferson Township and serves many South Butler communities. The pool’s infrastructure is decades old, with the pool liner, pipes, heater, and mechanical system in dire need of replacement or updating.

Planning for this renovation began in 2022 and has been a work in progress between Jefferson Township, Butler County Parks & Recreation and the State of Pennsylvania along with the engineering firm Herbert, Rowland & Grubic. The township secured a $555,000 DCNR grant in 2022 and another $125,000 grant from the state in early 2025.

At this time, the township’s engineering firm will be working with Butler County Parks & Recreation on alternative solutions.
